How Does It Work?

  1. 1.How do I request a house call?

Simply call Best MD House Calls at (415) 314-1005 when you have any non-life-threatening medical conditions (for life-threatening emergencies, always dial 9-1-1 immediately).

A doctor will usually answer your call directly --  this is the beginning of the personalized service provided by Best MD House Calls.  After some initial questions, if a house call is determined to be appropriate, your doctor will schedule a convenient time to come to you.  We can usually accommodate most patients within 24 hours.

2. What happens during the house call?

Your doctor will take a history, perform any necessary physical examinations, and then recommend treatment options. After instructions are given, paperwork completed, and all questions answered, your doctor will depart. You will continue to have direct telephone access for any follow-up needs. In most situations, your doctor can leave prescribed medications with you, avoiding a trip to the pharmacy. Written or telephoned prescriptions are always available, if you prefer.

3. What if I need hospitalization?

Our doctors are capable of treating a wide range of conditions at your home. However, if upon evaluation we determine that you require more extensive treatment or even hospitalization, we will work closely with you to expedite that care.

4. What geographical areas do you serve?

We are based in Palo Alto, CA. We currently serve the San Francisco Bay Area and the surrounding communities. We can often accommodate special requests -- just call us.

  1. 5.What are your fees?

Fees for a house call consultation and evaluation ranges from $295-395(USD) for a standard visit and $550-$695(USD) for intermediate visits (e.g. laceration repair).  Complex visit ranges from $825-$995(USD).  Normal Business Hours are M-F 9am-6pm.  Higher rates apply during after hours(6pm-10pm 7 days). These fees include all treatments, medications, supplies, and prescription medications that we carry with us.  We carry prescription medications for many common problems.  If you need a prescription for a medication that we do not carry with us we are happy to write it but filling and paying for the medications will be your responsibility.  There is a night time surcharge of $200 for any house calls between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am.  And if you are outside our area of service, a fee may be assessed for the doctor's travel time.  All fees must be paid at the time of service; cash, checks, or all major credit cards are accepted.

  1. 6.Do you take insurance?

Due to our commitment to provide personalized care of the highest quality, and because of the complex laws and rules that govern the insurance industry we are unable to bill your insurance directly.  We are happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Our fees are generally much less than a comparable ER or Urgent Care visit.  If convenience and quality are factored in, the choice becomes more obvious.
